Best Blood Pressure Monitor for Home Use in Sri Lanka
Upper arm vs wrist, cuff size and A&D models compared, with how to measure correctly.

The best blood pressure monitor for home use in Sri Lanka is an upper arm monitor with a cuff that fits your arm. At HuMED that means the A&D UA-611 (LKR 13,400), UA-651 (LKR 15,500) or UA-1020 (LKR 23,500). Each has a 3-year warranty, and we are an authorised dealer for A&D.
Quick answer
Most people: A&D UA-611, LKR 13,400. Cuff fits 22–32 cm.
Larger arm (up to 42 cm): A&D UA-1020, LKR 23,500.
Want a carrying case: A&D UA-651, LKR 15,500.
Type to choose: upper arm, not wrist.
Upper arm vs wrist: which BP machine?
A pressure machine for home use comes in two kinds. An upper arm monitor has a cuff above the elbow. A wrist monitor sits on the wrist. The American Heart Association recommends an automatic, cuff-style upper arm monitor for home use, and says wrist and finger monitors give less reliable readings. For that reason, we sell upper arm models only.
Wrist monitors are small and easy to carry. But they are sensitive to wrist and arm position, so a small mistake can change the result. If you are choosing a BP machine for an older family member, an upper arm monitor is the safer choice.
How to choose the right cuff size
Cuff size matters. A cuff that is too small can read high. A cuff that is too large can read low. To check, measure around the middle of your upper arm with a soft tape.
22–32 cm: A&D UA-611 or UA-651.
22–42 cm: A&D UA-1020.
If your arm is close to the edge of a range, or you are not sure, ask us before you order. Call +94 76 015 6631.

Blood pressure monitor warranty in Sri Lanka

How to measure blood pressure at home
These steps are general. Follow your monitor's manual and your doctor's advice. For model-specific steps, see our guide on how to use the A&D UA-611.
Avoid smoking, caffeine and exercise for at least 30 minutes before you measure.
Sit with your back straight and supported, feet flat on the floor.
Rest quietly for a few minutes.
Rest your arm on a table, with the cuff at heart level, on bare skin.
Press start. Stay still and do not talk.
Wait at least one minute and take a second reading.
Measure at the same time each day, and write down the readings with the date.
What do the readings mean?
The WHO says blood pressure of 140/90 mmHg or higher is high, and that a diagnosis needs high readings on two different days. A home monitor helps you track your readings. It does not diagnose high blood pressure. Show your readings to your doctor and ask about your target levels.
FAQ
What is the best BP monitor for home use?
An upper arm monitor with a cuff that fits your arm. For most adults at HuMED, that is the A&D UA-611 at LKR 13,400, with a cuff for 22–32 cm. The UA-1020 suits larger arms up to 42 cm. All have a 3-year warranty.
Is an upper arm or wrist BP monitor better?
Upper arm. The American Heart Association recommends upper arm monitors for home use, and says wrist and finger monitors are less reliable. Wrist monitors are more sensitive to position. We sell upper arm monitors only.
How do I know my cuff size?
Measure around your upper arm, midway between shoulder and elbow. The A&D UA-611 and UA-651 cuffs fit 22–32 cm. The UA-1020 cuff fits 22–42 cm. A wrong-size cuff can give wrong readings, so ask us if you are between sizes.
What is the A&D blood pressure monitor warranty?
The A&D UA-611, UA-651 and UA-1020 each have a 3-year warranty. We are an authorised dealer for A&D, so you get a warranty card with the monitor. Keep your invoice. Ask us about the cuff and adapter.
Is the A&D blood pressure monitor accurate?
We cannot promise accuracy for every person. The UA-611 page describes it as designed for easy and accurate monitoring, and all three models are NMRA approved. Use it as your doctor advises, and compare it with a clinic reading.
Can I get a BP machine delivered today in Colombo?
Yes. Same-day delivery in Colombo is by PickMe or Uber Eats, with an online or bank payment. Outside Colombo we deliver island-wide by courier. Cash on delivery and Koko or Mintpay instalments are available.
